The simple combination of whiskey and cola has been an American bar staple since the late 19th century, when soda fountains first met hard liquor. Our Hive & Rye takes this beloved, simple tradition and elevates it for the modern palate.
This recipe pairs the bold, spicy character of rye whiskey—a spirit with deep roots in American cocktail history—with the unique, velvety sweetness of Brew and Feed's Honey Cola. The natural honey base beautifully mellows the whiskey's inherent sharpness, delivering an incredibly smooth, aromatic, and perfectly balanced highball with a remarkably clean finish. It’s the simple upgrade that honors history while demanding a premium experience.
Ingredients
-
2 oz Rye Whiskey (A high-proof or spicier rye is recommended)
-
4 oz Cola Soda Pop
- Ice (Large, clean cubes)
- Garnish: Orange Peel Swath or Lime Wedg
Directions
- Chill the Glass: Select a highball glass or rocks glass and fill it generously with large ice cubes.
- Add the Spirit: Pour 2 oz of the Rye Whiskey directly over the ice.
- Top with Cola: Gently add 4 oz of the Brew and Feed Honey Cola. Pour slowly to maintain maximum carbonation.
- Stir (Gently): Give the drink a quick, gentle stir (no more than one or two rotations) to combine the ingredients without losing effervescence.
- Garnish: Express the oils from a swath of orange peel over the drink and drop it in, or simply add a lime wedge to the rim.
