Pumpkin pie spice shows up in many different dished in the Fall but one of our favorite things to put it on is bacon. Make this candied pumpkin spiced bacon at home with our Pumpkin Pie Spice and pair it with your favorite pumpkin spiced beverage.
Candied Pumpkin Spiced Bacon
1/3 cup pure cane or granulated sugar (or turbinado or demerara sugar for more caramel notes)
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 16-ounce package of bacon (we recommend thick cut bacon)
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Line a baking sheet with foil. Add a roasting rack to raise the bacon off the surface of the baking sheet if you have one
Mix sugar and pumpkin pie spice together in a small bowl
Sprinkle sugar and pumpkin spice mixture on each side of the bacon to coat them sparsely then put each piece on the baking sheet
Bake the bacon for 20-25 minutes or until desired doneness or crispiness
Remove the bacon from the oven and put on a plate or clean roasting pan, being carful not to let the bacon pieces touch each other so they do not stick together.
Makes 8-10 pieces.
The bacon can be kept in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
