Candied Pumpkin Spiced Bacon
1/3 cup pure cane or granulated sugar (or turbinado or demerara sugar for more caramel notes)
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 16-ounce package of bacon
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Line a baking sheet with foil. Add a roasting rack to raise the bacon off the surface of the baking sheet if you have one
Mix sugar and pumpkin pie spice together in a plate or pan
Dip each piece of bacon in the sugar mixture on each side to coat it then put each piece on the baking sheet
Bake the bacon for 20-25 minutes or until desired doneness or crispiness
Remove the bacon from the oven and put on a plate, being carful not to let the bacon pieces touch each other to prevent them from sticking together.
Makes 8-10 pieces.
The bacon can be kept in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
