The acronym "BLT" stands for Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato, the three primary ingredients that come together to create a symphony of flavors and textures. The foundation of a BLT is typically slices of your favorite bread, whether it's white, whole grain, or sourdough. The bread serves as a sturdy and delicious vessel for the layers of goodness that follow.
The star of the show is the bacon—thick-cut, savory, and cooked to perfection. The bacon adds a satisfying crunch and a rich, smoky flavor that complements the other ingredients.
Next, crisp and vibrant iceberg lettuce is layered on, providing a refreshing and cool contrast to the warmth of the bacon. The lettuce also contributes a satisfying crunch, adding texture to every bite.
Thinly sliced, ripe tomatoes come next, offering a burst of juiciness and a hint of sweetness. The tomatoes not only enhance the overall freshness of the sandwich but also provide a balance to the saltiness of the bacon.
To bring it all together, a creamy and tangy sauce is often spread on the bread. This mayonnaise-based sauce may include Dijon mustard, adding a zesty kick that elevates the sandwich's overall flavor profile.
When assembled, the BLT is a masterpiece of simplicity—each layer contributing its unique texture and taste to create a well-balanced, satisfying sandwich. Whether enjoyed for lunch, dinner, or a quick snack, the BLT is a timeless favorite that continues to capture hearts with its delicious and uncomplicated charm.

Ingredients
-
3 slices of quality thick-cut bacon
-
2 slices of your favorite bread (white, whole grain, or sourdough)
-
1 thin slice of a large ripe tomato
-
2 pieces of crisp iceberg lettuce
-
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
Directions
Cook the Bacon
Preheat your oven or air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for a few minutes.
Oven Directions: Arrange the bacon slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the bacon is golden and crispy. Keep an eye on it to prevent overcooking. Once done, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
Air Fryer Directions: Place the bacon slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don't overlap. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping the bacon halfway through, or until it reaches your desired level of crispiness. Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer model, so keep an eye on the bacon to prevent burning.
Toast the slices of bread to your desired level of crispiness. You can use a toaster, panini press or a skillet for this step.
Cut a thin slice from a large tomato
Peel off two layers of lettuce
Take a slice of toasted bread and spread a generous layer of the mayonnaise on one side. Place the lettuce on top of the mayonnaise, followed by a layer of thinly sliced tomatoes.
Arrange the slices of crispy bacon on top of the tomatoes. If you prefer, you can break the bacon slices in half for easier eating.
Complete the sandwich with another slice of toasted bread. Add more mayonnaise to this slice if you’d like. Press down gently to help all the flavors meld together.
Slice the sandwich diagonally for a classic presentation. Serve immediately.
